Happy Halloween

Hosted By SparkleTags.comTrick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!  Or I'll make Yu-Gi-Oh walk the plank, ar ar ar...

Well all I can say is Hannah got most of the Booty cause Caleb was like "okay I'm done trick or treating and I want to watch my cartoons now."  Oh really?   Okay, Hannah let's go get some more gold, I mean candy, ha ha!

Aren't they cute! ;)

Oh and man am I gonna have to take candy to work cause our street was too dark and scary for the kiddos to come down and I bought, like 8bags.  I think we gave away 1.  Oh well, give it to Mikey, he'll eat it.  Right? ;)

Just Catching Up

I have been just running around like a chicken...well you get the idea. ;)

I worked Thursday and Friday.  I swear, I think every underage ASU student was in the ER both nights drunk and naked!  I can't believe how many kids under the age of 21 are clubbing and doing drugs.  Makes me want to call all their parents!  KWIM?  Then there was the girl who tried to convince us that her jaw as dislocated by clenching her teeth and talking with her mouth closed.  She insisted that "this happens all the time and they give me valium and dilaudid IV".  Well, first of all her jaw wasn't dislocated, second we knew right from that comment she was drug seeking.  Oh yeah, there was the girl who had a headache and they always given her dilaudid and phenergan.  And right when I gave her the first shot, she goes "I usually have to have two or more shots."  What?  The first shot alone would have knocked me out.  All of these patients were 22 or under.  What the heck is going on in our country that all these young kids know what the heavy narcotics are?  They were raised going to the ER for everything instead of their family doctor.  You know, you always get the "good stuff" in the ER and hey, did you hear you don't have to pay?  Yeah, right.  Let me write a check for you honey.:-X

Saturday was a bit more fun.  Got up around 4pm (I didn't go to bed from working all night until 10:30am).  Got the kiddos and took them to a Halloween party at the martial arts place.  They looked so cute.  Caleb was Yu-gi-oh and Hannah was a pirate.  They had the best time.  So did I.  I got to go shopping at WalMart all by myself! :-D I spent a little, ha ha.  I could have spent more but I only had about an hour or so till I had to leave and go back and pick up the kids.

David just handed me a framed picture of the lion and lioness I took at the wild life park when we were in San Diego.  It is a way cool pic because it is a shadow.  Ahhhhhhhhhhh.  How sweet!

The next couple of days might be busy.  I'm doing my orientation tomorrow morning, and I work Wed & Thurs as an official employee of the hospital I've been working at for a whole year through the registry.  Wish me luck! ;)

Just hung out on Sunday with the family and cooked dinner.  First time in 2weeks!  Yes, I know you are in shock now, ha ha!

My poor boy woke up about 3:00am this morning with croup and said "I...can't...breath!".  Had to give him a breathing treatment with steriods and hooked up his humidifer.  Bark, bark, bark!  Stayed home from school with 101 fever.  Will stay home tomorrow, too. :(

The Sunday Seven - Episode

Apparently, Blogger has been having some serious troubles over the past week. When I published last night's "Saturday Six" questions, it turns out that they published, but didn't appear anywhere. They're up now, and now you have this Sunday offering to go with them.

Yesterday, I visited the Coastal Carolina Fair, a carnival held annually in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. It had the typical rides, games, and attractions, plus the ever-popular food vendors. That got me thinking about this week's question.

But first, Wil, of "The Daily Snooze" was first to play last week! Congratulations, Wil!

On to this week's question!

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
Name up to seven foods popular at fairs or carnivals that you either once loved or still do.

Either answer the question in a comment or answer it in your journal and include the link in a comment. (To be considered "first to play," a link must be to the specific entry in which you answered the question.)

1.  Corn Dogs

2.  Funnel Cakes

3.  Roasted Corn on the Cob

4.  Indian Tacos

5.  Cotton Candy

6.  Caramel Apples

7.  Cinnamon Rolls

Saturday Six - Episode 133

Hope you're having a nice weekend. It's time for another round of questions, so get your thinking caps on!

But first, Gabrielle of "A Metamorphoself of Gabrielle" was first to play last week! Congratulations, Gabrielle!

Here are this week's "Saturday Six" questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your journal...but either way, leave a link to your journal so that everyone else can visit! To be counted as "first to play," you must be the first player to either answer the questions in a comment or to provide a complete link to the specific entry in your journal in which you answer the questions. A link to your journal in general cannot count. Enjoy!

1. Have you ever joined one of those "social networking" communities like "Friendster" or "Myspace?" Would you ever consider it?  Mmmm.  Not really for me.  I do have a "Myspace" but I don't really use it.

2. Do you think that lasting friendships can be made solely through sites like those?  I don't think so.  There are exceptions to the rule.  My step-daughter met her current boyfriend through Myspace and they are now living together.  We'll see how long it lasts.

3. Has reduced prices in gasoline prompted you to drive more?  Not really, just enjoying the lower prices.

4. Take the quiz: What kind of sports car are you? (Thanks, Charley!)

You are a
Ferrari 360 Modena!

You've got it all.  Power, passion, precision, and style.  You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental.  Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it.  Now we're talking! ;)

5. Which phone do you use the most: your home phone, your work phone, or your cell phone? Of the remaining two, which do you use the least?  Cell phone the most.  Work the least.

6. In the old days, telephone numbers used to be word and letter combinations. The telephone company would take the first two digits of a phone number, create a word that began with two letters corresponding to the numbers in the digits, and then follow the word with the rest of the number. So, for a number that began with 25, they might use the "A" from the 2 button and the "L" from the 5 button and create a phone number like "Alpine 2-6341. If we went back to this system, come up with a word that would work for the first two digits of your phone number. (It can be work, home or cell...just don't post your whole number! Coastal 2-9222.

What's Your Dosha

Found these little quizzes over at Patrick's Place...

WHAT IS YOUR DOSHA?

Your Dosha is Pitta
You have a quick mind, a gift for persuasion, and a sharp sense of humor.
You have both the drive and people skills to be a very successful leader.
Argumentative and a bit stubborn, you have been known to be a little too set in your ways.
But while you may be biased toward your own point of view, you are always honest, fair, and ethical.

With friends: You are outgoing and open to anyone who might want to talk to you

In love: You are picky but passionate

To achieve more balance: Be less judgmental of those around you, and take cool walks in the moonlight.

WHAT'S YOUR DOSHA?

All About Pitta

Pitta-type people are generally of medium size and well proportioned. They have a medium amount of physical energy and stamina. They also tend to be intelligent and have a sharp wit and a good ability to concentrate. Fire is a characteristic of Pitta, whether it shows up as fiery red hair or a short temper. Since Pittas' body temperature is generally warm, Pitta types can go out of balance with overexposure to the sun. Their eyes are sensitive to light. They are ambitious by nature but also can be demanding and abrasive.

Pitta types are known for their strong digestion but should be careful not to abuse it. Their heat makes them particularly thirsty, and they should take caution not to douse their agni, or digestive fire, with too much liquid during meals. Pitta dosha leads us to crave moderation and purity. We rely on Pitta to regulate our intake of food, water, and air. Any toxins, such as alcohol or tobacco, show up as a Pitta imbalance. Toxic emotions such as jealousy, intolerance, and hatred also should be avoided to keep Pitta in balance for optimum health.

Looks like I'm reasonably balanced, ya think?

Wednesday Quizzes from Cat

Your Personality Is Like Cocaine
You're dynamic, brilliant, and alluring to those who don't know you.
Hyper and full of energy, you're usually the last one to leave a party.
Sometimes your sharp mind gets the better of you... you're a bit paranoid!

?otd
How do you know that God does or does not exist? Well, I hate to just say because "I believe", but that is the truth.  Besides that, there are so many things in this universe that can only be answered by a higher power.

If you were a mail carrier, what kind of weather would bother you the most?  Oh geez...I really hate the cold so I'm gonna have to go with that.  But on the other hand, I live in the desert so I have a find appreciation for the heat as well.

What is your favorite board game? Monopoly.  I used to play it, literally, for days with my BF when I was just a child.

What will you be for Halloween this year? I will be....passing out candy.  Ha ha, same as Cat.

If you could stand at the pinnacle of any natural object or man-made structure, what would it be?  I'm too afraid of heights to stand at the pinnacle of anything.  Wait...I went to the Grand Canyon last year.  That was great and I viewed it safely from behind the railing.

Saturday Six - Episode 132

Oh yeah...it's Saturday, isn't it? Sorry for keeping you all waiting. I had a busy day of running errands and getting out and exploring the city a bit. And as I was sitting here at the computer having a very late dinner, it occurred to me that it was time -- past time, actually -- to post the questions!

But first, Nichole of "My Two Cents" was first to play last week! Congratulations, Nicole!

Enjoy!

1. Who is the last person who you spoke to by telephone?  My wonderful DH, David.

2. Who is the last person you spoke to online?  My favorite sister, Kathryn.

3. Which of the two have you seen more in person?  David.

4. Take the quiz: How is your self-esteem?

You Have Low Self Esteem 16% of the Time

Which can be translated to mean, you have high self-esteem and a healthy sense of self worth.
You believe in yourself, and you know how to be the real you. You love yourself, imperfections and all.

5. What is the longest period of time you have gone without internet service since you became a "regular user?"  OMG, like a whole week!

6. How much did the lack of internet availability bother you?  I was anxious and irritable.

Sunday Seven - Episode 58

I'm posting this one a few hours early because I likely won't have internet access tomorrow. In any case, please be patient for comments to actually be posted. As soon as I can get back to a computer, I'll post responses.

While packing up the pantry, I came across a fair number of cans of Campbell's Soup. It's amazing how little it can take to inspire a question, isn't it!

Last week's "first to play" required a bit of sorting. To be considered "first to play," you must be the first one to post the link to the specific entry in the blog where you posted your answers. So it would appear that Jude, of "My Way," who was actually the third person to post a comment was technically "first to play" last week because she was the first one to leave the whole URL for the specific post. That makes Jude first for the second week in a row! Congratulations!

On to this week's question!

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
Name your top seven favorite flavors of soup.

Either answer the question in a comment or answer it in your journal and include the link in a comment. (To be considered "first to play," a link must be to the specific entry in which you answered the question.)

1.        Chicken Tortilla Soup

2.        Hot & Sour Soup

3.        Gumbo (is that a soup?)

4.        Chicken Corn Chowder

5.        Potato

6.        Broccoli Cheese

7.        Chicken Noodle Soup (homemade)

Saturday Six - Episode 130

I made it back to South Carolina, but I don't have internet access at home just yet, so I'm posting this (and Sunday's a little early) from my parents' house while I have the chance. I'll get back to regular posting as soon as possible...which will likely mean as soon as Bellsouth sends that modem!)

Please be patient for comments to actually be posted. As soon as I can get back to a computer, I'll post responses.

Before this week's questions, De of "De's" Thoughts" was first to play last week! Congratulations, De!  Oh wow!  How did that happen again?! ;)

Enjoy!

1. You move to a new city: what is the first thing you're most likely to check out in your immediate surroundings: restaurants, grocery stores, shopping malls, movie theaters or historic sites?  Grocery stores (24hr Wal-Mart preferrably) and resturants.  A person’s gotta eat!

2. Consider the local television stations in your area: do you generally stay more with one station for entertainment and local news, or do you tend to rely on one station for local news and others for entertainment?
Depends, but mostly one station for news and then hopping around for entertainment.

3. Is there a set time of day or night that you blog, or do you just post whenever the spirit moves you?
Mostly during the wee night hours as I’m a night-shifter.

4. How often do you write a blog entry, then save it as a "draft" rather than publishing it immediately to think it over before actually posting it?
If I’m taking the time to write it, I go ahead and publish it right away.

5. Which makes a better dessert after a good meal: ice cream, pie, or cake?
Can I have all three?

6. What is your favorite flavor of the item you selected in question #5?
I’m female…chocolate, of course! ;)

The Sunday Seven - Episode 57

Someone joked that I'd be able to be a "Gamecock" again now that I was moving back to South Carolina. I responded that I never stopped being a Gamecock. But that remark suggests the perfect topic for this week.

But first, Jude, of "My Way" was first to play last week! Congratulations, Jude!

On to this week's question!

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION
:
Name your favorite sports teams, and for the less sports-educated, be sure to indicate the sport with which they'reassociated.

Either answer the question in a comment or answer it in your journal and include the link in a comment. (To be considered "first to play," a link must be to the specific entry in which you answered the question.)

3.   Dallas Cowboys (NFL)

4.   Longhorns (UT, College Football)

5.   Sooners (OU, College Football)

Hannah's Home!

Well that took a long time.  It's been 7weeks since my baby left for OK to visit with her Dad.  I've been antsy all week.  Yes, well not so antsy that I didn't over sleep today and was late picking her up, lol.  I just kept hitting my snooze until I finally woke up enough about an hour later and went "oh shoot" (or something like that) and jumped in the shower.  Hannah's plane was supposed to get to Phoenix at 2:15pm, but she called me at 1:50pm and said "We are off the plane!"  Oh great.  I was in the car, but I hadn't even made it to the highway yet (which is a 4 1/2mile drive from our house).  So I'm like "Get your Dad to buy you a Starbucks (she bought) and get your luggage.  I'll be there as fast as I can."  Lucky for me the airport is only about 20-25miles from our house, and it did end up being easier for me since all I had to do was pull up at the curb.  Besides, Tom (Hannah's Dad) had 3 1/2 hours to kill before his flight back to OKC.  So I was really doing him a favor by giving him something extra to do, right? :)

I decided last night that I wanted to do some rearranging in Hannah's room.  Not that I didn't have 7weeks to do it, mind you, but I have decided that if the little toot leaves her room in a horrendous mess, then by golly she should come home to that.  But I decided I wanted it rearranged so in order to do that I had to do a little bit of cleaning, okay a lot of cleaning.  At any rate David had to practically reput Hannah's loft bed back together because it was put up so loose it was unstable.    But we accomplished what I had set out on doing and more and Hannah was very pleased when she got home.

Elizabeth called me while I was driving to the airport and gave me the all clear on her coming out here in a few weeks for her fall break, so when I got home I bought her a ticket.  Yea!

October is going to be a very busy month, but a very happy one!!
