Robin's 5'er 1/06/06

Hi guys!!!

It's Friday and it is time for what I call "THE 5'er!"     It was do the dishes or sit down and do "The 5'er"  so you see what I picked!

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. When you have answered them come back and leave a link in my comment section.  On the following Friday I will post your links and a new set of questions! Have fun!

Let's play!!

This weeks theme is...potatoes. I don't know why...I am just thinking about them.

1.  When was the last time you had mashed potatoes?  Were they regular mashed potatoes or some kind of fancy version?  Okay…It’s been a while since I, myself, served REAL mashed potatoes cause the last time I did I peeled a 10lb bag and resolved that was ENOUGH (if memory serves me right I was still pregnant with Caleb, my 5yr old).  So…then my sister Kathryn came to visit in November and made real mashed potatoes, mmmmmmm!  I thought my husband was going to propose.   And no, I’m not gonna count Thanksgiving, cause we know why…right Kathryn?

 2.  Do you grow your own veggies? Have a garden? If so are potatoes one of the things you grow?  Not since I was a kid growing up.  We had 3acres of land and Daddy had garden every year.  We all helped out, and that included planting and pulling up potatoes.

3.        French fried potatoes...do you like natural cut fries, with skin still on or the McDonald's kind?  Hmmmmmmmmm….McDonalds.  Okay…shoot me.

4.        How about potato salad?  Do you like it? Have a family recipe you have used for years?  I love potato salad.  But I like the kind with mayo in it and not mustard, just the way my Nanny and Mom make it.  But my husband and kids won’t eat it so I haven’t made it in years.

5.  Did you have a Mr. Potato head as a kid?  Ever purchased one for someone else's kid?  I’m going to copy Robin on this one and say that I think I did have one...or someone I know had one. I kinda remember playing with one. I think I bought one for Hannah, though I’m not too sure.

Bonus question just cause I think potatoes are cool...did you ever put a potato in a glass jar with water and watch the roots grow in school. Like a science experiment?  And does anyone know what the purpose of that experiment is?  I did this too, and so did Hannah.  But heck if I can remember exactly why.  I think it was to show us how roots grow.  Kathryn...I defer to you since your the teacher.  Would you PLEASE finally register and leave an answer so we can all know?!!!

Now get to it! BTW....please forgive me for getting behind in posting "The 5'er" players. I will stay on track now that the holidays are over. xoxo

PLAY ALONG WITH ROBIN!

Thanks for playing!!!  I think I would like potato salad with mayo instead of mustard too...not a big mustard fan here.

McDonald fries rock!! They are my favorite! I have been known to go through the drive through and get a bag occasionally of them. And Koda likes them too!

When Jim was growing up, they lived on two acres in Kentucky. They planted potatoes one year. They thought it would be a good way to make some money - it was his and his brother's "job"; they were 3rd and 5th grade. Lots of hard work for the money earned. They were SOOO sick of potatoes by the time they were done that year. Thankfully the next year his dad, in the Navy, got transferred.
