Tuesday Two - Episode 5

Go on over to Patrick's Place...   Picture from Hometown

Is it really November already?  How did that happen?  One minute we were turning the clocks backwards...the next minute we're one step closer to the end of the year!

Because of the Vivi Awards -- yes, I'm still counting -- I wasn't able to get a Tuesday Two out last week, so this week, it's the Tuesday Two X 2...two sets of questions.

Just as always, answer one question in each pair...not both!  There's a reason why I'm asking you to answer just one, and we'll get to that in a few more weeks.

First, congratulations to Betty, of "Of mini-paws and menopause," who was first to tackle last week's question about prejudice.

Now, onto this week's topics:

THIS WEEK'S TOPIC #1:    SONGS

QUESTION A:
Name a song that somehow connects you and another person:  a loved one, an ex, or a friend or family member...and describe how it became "your song."

It would have to be “Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Savage Garden.  It was the first song that was playing when David and I started dating, and it seemed every time we got into the car thereafter for a long while….”it was a sign”.  I still get a rush when I hear it.

I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong I will be faithful
'Cos I'm counting on a new beginning.
A reason for living.
A deeper meaning.

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me...

And when the stars are shining brightly
In the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish
Send it to heaven
Then make you want to cry..
The tears of joy
For all the pleasure and the certainty.
That we're surrounded
By the comfort and protection of..
The highest power.
In lonely hours.
The tears devour you..
I want to stand with you on a mountain,
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever,
Until the sky falls down on me...
Bridge

Oh can't you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
'Cos it's standing right before you.
All that you need will surely come...

I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need.
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do...

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the skyfalls down on me...

or

QUESTION B:

What was the last song you heard on the radio that really hit anerve with you?  What about it made you really feel like it was written about you?

THIS WEEK'S TOPIC #2:    YOUR WORST ENEMY

QUESTION A:

If you feel that you are your worst enemy, then think about the worst quality you have that makes you feel this way:  if you had the power to remove that quality from your personality with the snap of a finger, would you?  Why or why not?  Oh can’t we all be our own worst enemy.  Mine is worrying about everything, sometimes to obsession.  I don’t know that I would want to get rid of my worrying because I feel that it is a strong motivator for me to get things accomplished, but I do need the obsession part to lift a tad bit.

or

QUESTION B:

If your worst enemy is someone besides you, what would it take to resolve the situation...and what would it take for you to be the one to start that process?

My Boy

Here is my big Kindergartner....oh and I'm not a proud Mom at all! And yes, the pic is supposed to be in black & white.  Cool huh?

Saturday Six - Episode 82

Go to Patrick's Place     Picture from Hometown

Tonight is the big night for the announcement of the winners of this year's Vivi Awards.  But today is Saturday, which means that there's no better day of the week for the Saturday Six.

But before the questions, it's time to recognize the first person to play last week.  That honor went to Mort, of "Mortimer's Cafe,"  Congratulations, Mort.

Also, we welcome those who played the Saturday Six for the first time last week: LeslieScrletwoman, Hoppers, MyHeartSaysSo2 and Susan, whose link didn't appear to work.  Be sure to stop by their journals to say hello.

Here are this week's "Saturday Six" questions.  Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your journal...but either way, leave a link to your journal so that everyone else can visit!  If you don't have an AOL journal, you can still play, but of course you'll at least need an AOL screen name, which you can get for free with AOL Instant Messenger, to be able to leave a comment here.  To be counted as "first to play," you must be the first player to either answer the questions in a comment or to provide a complete link to the specific entry in your journal in which you answer the questions.  A link to your journal in general cannot count.  (Again, if you're playing for the first time, please be sure to say so in the comment!)  Enjoy!

1. What is the last big "gift" you bought for yourself...either for your birthday, Christmas, or any other holiday?  Ewwwww….I don’t know.  Does Victoria’s Secret count?  I went just a teenie bit wild (tee hee).

2. Of the official Vivi Award Categories, if you had to nix one of them, which would you choose?  Oh I hate to be political, so I’ll just skip this one.

3. Which category would you add that isn't on the list this year?  How about best aged or fine wine (either way, I’m a shoo in to win)?

4. Take this quiz:  Which soap opera does your life most resemble?

Your life most resembles:
One Life to Live

Your life mostly resembles those of the characters on One Life to Live. You are a rational person, and you never jump to conclusions. Your friends love you because you are very open-minded, and very accepting of their weird quirks.

5. Have you ever heard a song and thought, "Whoever wrote that must know me?"  If so, what song was it, and do you still feel that way?  Ummmm...can I get back to you on that?

6. If your birthday had to fall on a holiday each year, which holiday would you choose and why?  (For this question, assume that holidays like "Thanksgiving," which fall on a different date each year, would fall on the same date to accommodate the question.)  Oh well, I might as well just accept it cause I can’t change it.  Thanksgiving.  And yes, this yearmy birthday IS on Thanksgiving.  Happy Birthday to me & Hannah (yes we share a birthday!)  I’ve had to get used to people forgetting my birthday, and that comes in handy the older (I mean younger) I get!

Sunday Seven - Episode 9

Oh boy, now that my baby sis has finally left (insert laughter here), I have got a lot of catching up to do!  Has anybody missed me?!    Here we go...play along at Patrick's Place...

  Picture from Hometown

On the day before Halloween, there's no way I couldn't make the Sunday Seven feature the famous day in some way.

So now that I have given you a hint about the topic this week, I will now make reference to the journal writer who put the fear in all of her colleagues by being first to answer last week's Sunday Seven question about hurricane names:  congratulations to Dawn of "Endless Laundry List of Things Undone!

It's time to put down that halloween candy -- remember, it's for the kids, not for you! -- and have a look at this Sunday's challenge:

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
You are given control of a cable network to run a seven-movie Halloween marathon.  Which movies would you choose?

Either answer the question in a comment or answer it in your journal andinclude the link in acomment.  (To be considered "first to play," a link must be to the specific entry in which you answered the question.)

1. Amityville Horror (original)

2. Halloween (original)

3. Blair Witch Project (first one)

4. The Exorcist (original)

5. Psycho (original)

6. Omen (original)

7. Poltergeist (original)

Oh geez....I guess I am an original kind of a gal!

Texas - Okay....I'm feeling nostalgic

There wouldn't be no Alamo,
No Cowboys in the Superbowl...
No "Lonesome Dove", no "Yellow Rose",
If it wasn't for Texas.

I wouldn't be a Willie fan.
Nobody'd swim the Rio Grande.
I wouldn't be an American,
If it wasn't for Texas.

Fort Worth would never cross my mind,
An' there'd be no Austim City limits sign.
No Lonestar of any kind.
If it wasn't for Texas.

I'd never've gone to Tennessee,
To sing my songs an' chase my dreams.
Only Heaven knows just where I'd be,
If it wasn't for Texas.

Fort Worth would never cross my mind.
There'd be no Austin City limits sign.
An' no Lonestar of any kind.
If it wasn't for Texas.

It made me the man I am...
Thank God for my old stompin' ground.
I wouldn't be standin' right here, right now,
If it wasn't for Texas.
If it wasn't for Texas.
If it wasn't for Texas

Saturday Six - Episode 81

This is just a wee bit late.  My baby sis is visiting and will be here until next Saturday!

As usual...play along at Patrick's Place.

 Picture from Hometown

Time to take a break from the Vivi vote counting to post the Saturday Six.  Yes, I know there was no Tuesday Two this week, but I'll post a double edition this coming Tuesday for that one.

Before the questions...

Wait a second..."Bonanza" is on.  Let me go take care of that.

All right, I'm back.  Don't know why, but I hate westerns.  Just can't deal with them.  I love "Bonanza's" theme song, which has to be one of the greatest in TV history...but once that's over, it's time to change the channel.  As I was saying...

But before the questions, it's time to recognize the first person to play last week.  That honor went to Betty, who writes "Of mini-paws and menopause."  What a clever title for her journal!  Congratulations, Betty.

Also, we welcome those who played the Saturday Six for the first time last week: Amy, Shadie, and Pat.

1. What is a bigger pet peeve for you:  someone trying to talk on a cell phone during a movie, a baby crying in a restaurant, a dog barking on your street, or music played loud enough to rattle windows.  A baby crying anywhere!

2. What is your favorite cologne or perfume that you wear most often?
JLo Glow  Which one is the one you like the scent of, but don't wear often or at all?  Dillard’s Realm.

3. In your opinion, what is the best way to tell someone you value how much they mean to you?
In person of course, followed by actions that back up your words.

4. Earlier this week, I posted a personality quiz:   If you haven't taken it, please do; if you already have, how accurate were the results compared with your true personality.
Very true, right on the money.

5. When was the last time you feel you got as much sleep as you really needed in a single night?
Wednesday.

6. If a stranger walked up to you and handed you a briefcase with enough money to pay off every debt you had down to the penny, do you think you could start from then on living debt-free?
Absolutely!  We’ve already gotten rid of every credit card we ever had.  Just paid cash for a vehicle (wholesale).  And every month I am paying some other debt off.
