Okay...Caleb could hardly sleep last night because he was so excited about starting Kindergarten. This morning he bounded right up. Watched TV and ate a little. "Mom I'm ready to take a shower now". "Mom, I ready to get dressed now" "Mom hurry so we don't be late"
Get there...he's all shy. Hardly interacts with the other kids. Lines up...goes inside (snif, snif)
I go to pick up the little tike and this is the ensuing conversation:
(Me) Hey, Bud! How was school?!
(Caleb) "I hate that school and I am never going back again!"
(Me) Whoa buddy. What on earth happened?
(Caleb) "It was boring!"
(Me) Oh my, well it was only the first day, bud, give it a chance, tomorrow will be better.
(Caleb) "No, I'm never going back again!"
(Me) Okay...who was mean to you?
(Caleb) "That little boy with the sticking up hair".
(Me) Well, don't let anyone be mean to you. Tell them to stop, and if they don't stop being mean to you, then you need to tell the teacher. If they are still being mean to you then you need to tell your Daddy. Okay?
(Caleb) "I don't like that little boy with the sticking up hair, he made me not listen!"
(Me) Well, so you got in trouble, too?
(Caleb) "Yes, and I'm never going back to school, again!"
(Me) Yes, Caleb. You are going back to school tomorrow and you will make lots of friends and have fun. Okay?
(Caleb) "NO!"
(Me) Okay...tell your Daddy when he wakes up.
(Caleb) "Daddy...I don't like that little boy with the sticking up hair. He is mean to me and made me not listen and I'm not going back to that school ever again!".
(Daddy speaking now) Caleb..you don't let anybody be mean to you. Tell them to stop. Then tell the teacher. Then tell me and I will make sure the little boy with the sticking up hair doesn't bother you ever again.
(Signficant pause....then Caleb speaking) "Okay Daddy...but that school is boring!"
Oh my...this is going to be fun! Hope your kiddos' first day is better. Pics to come as soon as I figure this downloading thingy.

poor cabub. Tell him I said to show the boy with the stickin up hair his kick n' punch! lol
I do hope my child's first day of school is better! We will be venturing into the world of college in a few days. Hopefully, there is no mean boy with sticking up hair to mar that first day.
